your coffin on my back your coffin on my back your coffin on my back my grieving will never tire my grieving will never end
till you come back back to me
back to me for centuries I’ve carried your coffin on my back your coffin on my back your coffin on my back
since your death has become my life I’ll carry your coffin on my back your coffin on my back your coffin on my back my grieving will never end will never end will never end will never end will never end

(the dead say) Trying to put ourselves back together we’re in pieces
 we’re in pieces
trying to put ourselves back together we’re in pieces they cut off our manhood
took some fingers and toes too we’re in pieces we’re in pieces dis-memberments re-memberments
 we’re in pieces
 we’re in pieces
trying to put ourselves back together we’re in pieces
 we’re in pieces
 and yet
 and yet
 we rise
 rise
 rise
 rise

about

M. Lamar Live is a high quality live recording of three pieces from Funeral Doom Spiritual. M. Lamar’s collaboration with Hunter Hunt-Hendrix. For these live performances Lamar and Hunt-Hendrix were joined by Anagram String Trio led by James Ilgenfritz who also provided additional string arrangements. Note the differences in the album versions of Oh Graveyard and The Demon Rising/Re-Memberance. Ilgenfritz’s wonderful strings add both a moaning to Oh Graveyard and a horrorscape to The Demon Rising.

The blending of Lamar’s voice with the strings and Hunt-Hendrix’s electronics evoke a deep mourning and a profound resurrection where the living and the new undead can stand together against the rot of the world.
